Did, in fact, cop this extremely soon after finishing Obra Dinn.
I feel like Papers, Please has enough significance that I don't really need to describe what its about, but for the sake of cohesion I will anyway: You operate a border checkpoint in East Grestin (with West Grestin belonging to the neighboring country of heavy political tension, Kolechia, in a Berlin inspired fashion), Astotzka, the USSR inspired communist state. You are given precise instruction in the form of a rulebook which you must cross-check with each entrant, and difficulty will ramp up as more rules are added and changed. You must manage funds for your own family, and there are elements of story choice that will lead to different endings; whether you opt for revolution, compliance, escape, etc., there are 20 total.
I think I was initially put off at the idea that this was somewhat of a boring, sad game, and that it would be difficult and frustrating to keep track of all these rules. Wound up picking up on things very quickly, fell into line, and it actually became really fun and kind of soothing in a satisfying sort of way. Story is pretty simple and light, but I enjoyed what was there. Especially Sergiu, I felt for him a lot. :)
If anything, I suppose I could've wanted more in terms of story, but I really believe that this is fine as it is. I feel no inclination to recommend a game I feel like everyone knows about, but I do so nonetheless. :P
